Photographing the Wings Over Batavia airshow was an unforgettable experience, from capturing Lee Lauderback’s retirement flight in his P-51 Crazy Horse to documenting the unmistakable spirit of the event itself.
Between the roar of the aircraft, the energy of the crowd, conversations with pilots on the flight line, and the spectacle of the drone show, there was a constant sense of momentum and history in motion.
As the sun set, the airshow transformed, the light softened, colours deepened, and the atmosphere shifted into something more reflective and cinematic, making the final moments especially powerful to photograph.
