WE HAVE WAYS FEST 2021

A chance meeting with my now good friend, James Holland, led to being the official photographer for the first We Have Ways festival in 2021.

Witnessing the gathering of around 1,000 attendees meeting in person for the first time, united by their shared interest in the Second World War and by the podcast We Have Ways of Making You Talk, which had built a strong community during the pandemic.

The atmosphere was wonderful, reflecting how an online audience had developed into a real-world community. A fabulous moment on stage was Colin Bell describing his service flying the Mosquito with RAF Pathfinder Force, providing first-hand operational insight, and a few laughs along the way!

It was a privilege to meet Captain Stan Perry, who spoke about his experience as a tank commander in the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry, the regiment later chronicled by James Holland in his book Brothers in Arms. The event marked the transition of a digital history community into a glorious in-person gathering!
