On the 5th June 1944, this airfield was alive with US Paratroopers boarding Boeing C-47 aircraft in what would become the liberation of Europe.
The U.S. 101st Airborne Division embarked their aircraft, and took off from these runways. As the sun was setting, the features of the airfield began to be revealed, the distinctive shape of the dispersals, with 80 years of nature showing through the joints in the concrete.
There are subjects that only make sense from the air, and this is a perfect example where drone photography can capture this.
