FLIGHT OF A LIFETIME
HURRICANE HERITAGE
A great day was had at White Waltham where a special flight was taking place. For Rob Harris, a self confessed warbird nut, along-held ambition was realised at when he flew in the world’s only two-seat Hawker Hurricane.
The aircraft is operated by Hurricane Heritage, a highly regarded company dedicated to preserving and flying historic warbirds to exacting engineering and authenticity standards, ensuring this rare aircraft remains airworthy and publicly accessible.
On this occasion, the Hurricane was flown by Mike Collett, a former RAF fast-jet pilot and seasoned display aviator with thousands of hours on military and historic aircraft, whose professionalism and experience were evident throughout.
I photographed the experience from the ground and around the airfield, capturing the pre-flight preparations, the distinctive Merlin start-up, the take-off from grass, and the aircraft’s return, great fun!
